Children are normally admitted into our Reception class in one intake. Children born between 1st September and 31st August start school in the September of the school year when they will be 5 years old.
They are usually taught in a mixed age class.
We follow the Local Authority (LA) procedure for admissions to the school. Parents, together with their children, are most welcome to visit the school. Please contact the school secretary, Mrs Dunkerley, on 01729 850215 before midday to arrange a convenient time to come and see us.
When a place has been confirmed for your child in the Reception class at Hellifield, the school will contact you to arrange a visit to your home and to invite you to an introductory meeting at school
If you wish your child to join Hellifield School, forms are available from our school office (contact details are at the foot of the page and on our contact page). Forms are also available from the North Yorkshire County Council website, and applications may be completed online.

Children leave at the end of Year 6. They then usually transfer to Settle College, where they stay until 17 or 18 years of age.
Close links exist between this school and Settle College. The children will have the chance to visit during their final summer term and there is always an opportunity to spend a full day there in July. There is a high level of liaison between schools during the transfer process and plenty of opportunities for children to mix with their peers from other local schools.
